iPad in a Porsche 911

Having your iPad or iPad 2 in a Brodit Holder and securely fixed to your vehicle's dashboard on a Brodit ProClip will allow you to use the various applications including Sat Nav and Audio whilst on the move.

Of course, email, films and mobile TV are also easier to control when you are stationary and away from the highway!

We had a request to install a Brodit Holder for an iPad 2 in a New Porsche 997 Gen 2

After looking at the Brodit ProClip positions that were available, we decided to go for a Brodit ProClip that was designed for a left hand drive vehicle.

We chose this as it would not obstruct the driver when in position and as the iPad 2 holder has a tilt swivel on the back, this could be easily pointed towards the driver when fitted.

When fitted the Brodit ProClip now provides a secure flat plastic plate to attach your preferred holder whether it be for your iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Tom Tom or other device.

All other Brodit ProClip position's for a Porsche can be found by clicking here.

A Brodit non-charging (Passive) Holder was required on this occasion and as it was an iPad 2 we used item 511244.

/live/features/porsche_fit-tilt-swivel_170.jpgWith the Brodit ProClip fitted on the vehicle you should firstly remove the Tilt Swivel mount from the reverse of the Brodit iPad Holder by unscrewing the large centre screw on the inside of the holder.

This can then be attached to the previously installed Brodit ProClip using the 4 self tapping screws provided with the Brodit holder. No drilling is required, however it is advisable to mark the location for the screws ensuring the Tilt Swivel mount is attached level.

/live/features/porsche_holder-in-position_170.jpgOnce the tilt swivel is secure on the Brodit ProClip the Brodit Holder for the iPad can be re-attached to the fitted Tilt Swivel Mount with the centre screw. When the Brodit iPad holder is in the correct position the centre screw on the tilt swivel can be tightened to fix the Brodit iPad holder at the correct angle.

It is important not to over tighten the centre screw and break the tilt swivel!

The iPad 2 is now in place!

Should the iPad only be required for occasional use it is possible to fit Brodit Move Clips which allow the holder to be easily removed and re-attached when required.

These have a 'Female' part which is attached to the Brodit ProClip then a 'Male' clip which is fitted to the back of the Brodit iPad Holder. The two parts then simply slide into one another when required and can easily be removed.
