As the UK government looks to reduce the nation's reliance on fossil fuels, there has been a sharp rise in the demand for newer, cleaner electric vehicles as a part of a concentrated effort to phase out all diesel engines by 2030.
The knock-on effect can already be seen within commercial sectors, with Chinese-owned vehicle manufacturer, Maxus, seeing a 400% increase in sales throughout 2021. With supermarket giants Tesco and global courier service DPD opting to induct Maxus' range of premium electric LCVs into their delivery fleets; as they search for methods of transportation and delivery not reliant upon these ever-dwindling fossil fuels.
DPD officially partnered with Maxus in October of last year, with the organisation now boasting over 750 of Maxus' range of all-electric LCVs, bringing their total of all-electric DPD vehicles on the road each day to well over 1000.
Of Maxus' two figurehead all-electric LVCs, the Maxus eDeliver 9 is the larger of the two vehicles. It offers a staggering 219-mile range that can charge up to 80% in 36 minutes and comes with 51.5kW, 72kW or 88.5kW battery options. The eDeliver 3 provides between 150 and 200 miles of range, charging up to 80% in 45 minutes, with 32.5 or 55kW battery options.
